Compare and contrast the colonization of the age of exploration with the imperialism of the 19th and 20th century?

3) The colonization of the age of exploration and imperialism of the 19th and 20th century were alike in the form that they both where controlled by Europeans, also that these Europeans wanted land.  They wanted to benefit from the land and use it to their own advantage.  Also that during the age of exploration and during the 19th and 20th century they had separate social classes with Europeans on top.  On the other hand during the imperialism they had more advanced technology since it was more recent they used steam engine boats while during the age of exploration they had to travel the world by ocean with ships.  The use of the steam engine was only during the 19th and 20th century because the industrial revolution just happened and now these people had the advantage of traveling faster.  Also when the different European countries discovered that Africa had very favorable geography they even fought more for the land.  But even with the invention of the steam engine boats the Europeans could not have gone through Africa’s many forests and water falls.  Unlike during the age of exploration when the Europeans had their mind on gold, glory, and for the god.  Gold being the spices from China used to preserve food, glory being the honor and fame, and the god being their lord like the king who helped them with the finances to get the boats.

How did the Industrial Revolution and the rise of Capitalism spark interest in Africa and the imperialism of the 19th and 20th century?

1) The Industrial Revolution and the rise of capitalism sparked interest in Africa when Europeans were looking to expand their companies and textile factories also they wanted to get workers who had very little rights and would work for cheap pay. Also Africa had many natural resources that Europeans can benefit from. The rise of capitalism sparked imperialism in Africa because the whole idea of capitalism is the government not interfering with the economical decisions and the African government had no say in what the Europeans did.

4)What role do you think the imperialism of the 19th and 20th century played in the sparking of the Civil war in Sierra Leone?
During the imperialism of Africa, different parts of Europe wanted the same parts of Africa other people wanted. The Europeans were afraid that there was going to be wars between themselves. So they came up with a way to discuss these problems, thus the Berlin Conference. The European focused mostly on the parts of Africa that had the most valuable resources.

2)Explain how the Berlin Conference and the imperialism of Africa that ensued effected both the colonized Africans and the European colonizers?
The Berlin Conference and the imperialism of Africa effected both the colonized Africans and the European colonizers by Africans having no say in what goes on in Africa. Africans were forced to do whatever the Europeans told them to do, or else there will be harsh consequences. The Europeans increased trade and got what they needed. They use Africa's natural resources for their own use and wealth. Europeans controlled everything and did what they wanted, for their own benefit.
